Craigville Beach Association (CBA) is a very special beach club on Nantucket Sound. Owned and operated by the Christian Camp Meeting Association (CCMA) since 1888, CBA provides members and their guests with a safe, family-friendly summertime experience. Once included on a list as one of the “10 best beaches in the world,” the absence of an undertow, the soft sand, and warm waters all combine to create a wonderful swimming experience. Add the convenient rows of bathhouses for storing beach chairs, umbrellas, children’s toys, and beach towels, and you can visualize a very relaxing vacation by the sea.

In 2012, CBA achieved United States Lifesaving Association certification. CBA is open from late June through Labor Day and lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 am to 4:45 pm. Just a short walk down the “40 Steps” from the Bluff at Craigville Village, the beach club also includes a convenient parking lot.

In addition to guarded swim areas in the warm, gentle waters of the Sound, CBA offers children's swimming lessons, craft hours, ping pong and volleyball, as well as adult social events in the evening. There are yoga classes many mornings, Supper and Game Nights for the kids, and the ever-popular Sandcastle Day always showcases the creativity of our families.

The spacious Buffington Pavilion was renovated in 2012, adding comfortable rocking chairs and benches for those who prefer its shady porch to a beach chair beneath an umbrella. It’s a perfect spot for leisurely reading or chatting with friends.

Swim lessons are offered during July and August, at no extra charge. All lessons are taught by the CBA guards certified as Water Safety Instructors by the American Red Cross. Children are placed in one of six levels depending on their ability.

CBA boasts an on-premises snack bar at the east end of the beach. CBA members can stroll down the boardwalk to enjoy a lobster salad sandwich on the snack bar deck or sip a refreshing frappe in their beach chairs. The snack bar offers a full menu and is open from 9:00 to 4:00 every day.

Individuals, couples, and families interested in joining CBA are encouraged to apply for membership. Membership applications include a sponsor letter from a past or present CBA member. An initiation fee is required upon acceptance by the Beach Committee. Craigville Village residents receive priority for admission.

More information about CBA and the application for new membership can be found on the CBA website.
